Whew - think I'll get back to you, those other 2 boys are a handful! (Thank You For Your New Upload - Current Pending Time 36 days! Thread)

I guessed that your style was better suited elsewhere when you said that you were going to make a change. You have found your "happy place" and you love doing it. (That didn't sound right when I reread it)

Hope my pictures keep selling here----I just had a P-EL download of one. That's a first. I'm not shocked at your sales. I've had the time to surf the last few months and I know all the top people make good money. I don't see that many are exclusive at one site, however.

I'm sad you're leaving, I thought we had become family. Well, email me and keep helping and drop in sometime. If you're ever in the neighborhood stop by for a swim! ( That goes for most anybody, if you'll give me some pointers while here)

Happy celebration-put in a good word for me with the fat man!

Well I've got another month or two before I can become exclusive so I'll be around for a bit. If you fancy a chat you can always write to me at davidfranklin.photography@gmail.com.

Ummm... I don't think you should use my name and the phrase 'top people' in the same paragraph (!) The top people are a class apart and appear to have unlimitless amounts of energy (they must be younger than me). The top ten or twenty people sell about 10,000 pictures a month, except Yuri who sells more than 30,000 copies a month, but then he is exceptional of course and his past history as a lecturer in psychology has helped him create highly saleable pictures (he applies his knowledge of psychology to the colors and patterns in the pictures, making them appeal subconsciously to buyers).

Congrats on your EL sale - a nice bit of extra money. And I see that your antique pictures are selling like hot cakes (well warm cakes anyway); you know if it was me I'd have up to fifty pictures in that series......

Hey - a wooden deck in Spring! Good strategy!

Think I'll do some computer stuff for a little while--my allergies are bad today! I can't stay in though it's kinda NEAT outside, if you can call 50 mile an hour winds neat. I got in a bike ride yesterday before the weather changed, good thing! Tornados hit our state again (and others). There is sure to be more damage after tonight and tomorrow with these winds.
You ARE at the top of the class in this thread. You don't see Yuri giving me advice, do you?? I feel like the only beginner here! Some days I forget which end of the camera to aim. Need to up my meds--------------
I'm still going through old stuff and trying to think what will work and how. I have problems with releases on a lot of it. Negatives of deceased family members need a release? I didn't know!

Hey I see you've uploaded a paintbrush and tin picture. By coincidence I'm just about to start shooting paints and brushes today. As usual its taken me a month or two to gather everything I need for this interesting project, and planning the pictures has needed some deep creative thought given that this subject has always been a popular one for photographers (but for buyers too). I'm hoping to bring some new ideas in a series of about twenty pictures, but I'll only be able to shoot four or five each day given the complexity of the shots I've got planned.

I believe that pictures of people actually doing painting, such as painting a wall or a house, sell well, so you might have a word with your husband while he's up the ladder (!). Also, if you can find a willing couple, a man and a woman exhausted and covered in splashes of paint after a hard day's painting is also a good subject (I plan to do some of those later in the year for a 'spring cleaning' project).

Four months to go to 'back to school' and five months to Halloween (hint).

In July I'll be shooting Christmas, but not too much because I don't want too many images that only sell on a seasonal basis.

Hmmm.... where did that 'old pictures in a frame' come from? And its already sold three copies. Did you ever buy me that lunch?

Well, look who came around to bother us! Came back cocky, I might add. I'll have to quit complementing you.

Yeah, I painted a shed and just got my camera out on a whim. That's how I "plan" a shot. I haven't looked at some of them, need to see what else I have. I got sidetracked with the small people for a few weeks, end of the sports season and such keeps me running up and down the road. The picture of a lot being cleared for my son's house sold fast and as we make some progress on things I'll try to get more for my construction collection. I have a basement full of paints and stains and things because of work. I could get lost in there taking pictures and not come out for a month. Just have too many things going at once, and I have to keep you straight, too.

I really need to spend some money on equipment but don't want to rush into it. I plan on doing this for a while so I want to make good progress and I need to quit getting turned down for poor lighting, and I REALLY get irritated when I miss the shot because of screwing up my focus.(I'm a hyper, right-brain type of person)

I was glad the frame with magnets was accepted. I wasn't sure about my homemade idea. I use it, but didn't know if it would sell. Evidentally different was good.

Okay, got to go start thinking about back-to-school and halloween now--WOW!

And lunch was a "BUST" because you seem to have missed my text message or something---SORRY------------------------------

Hi Dan,
I love all of your new pictures of food--bet you're putting on quite a few pounds. I would guess you have to eat it after you make it look so good.

It is sad to think Hatman is leaving us! I enjoyed listening to his accent and bantering with him!

Yeah, he sounds like Paul Hogan, doesn't he? Or for horror fans, maybe he sounds like the bad guy in Wolf Creek... Hmmmm.

Thanks for the food picture comments. I'm trying to improve at them. I know what quality it takes for them to sell strongly, and I'm just not there yet. With the exception of one steak picture, which is making me a small fortune in microstock, lol.

Good idea with the frames. I have 2 frames set for a similar project, but they need to be cleaned up a bit before they are photographed.

It looks like you are rolling now. 400+ pictures, 200+ downloads!

Glad I'm not the only one making a small fortune here! Where is the large fortune?? Maybe I have to be on more than one site.

Yeah, I just keep looking around and taking pictures--I guess soon I'll want to take a break. Don't want to exhaust all of my possibilities in the first year. Since my office is right next to my workshop it's too easy to want to sit in front of the computer instead of keeping up with the work that supports my habits! ( I just hate it when people call and complain about wanting their furniture back, tacky! )

I love frames! I buy them even if I don't have a use for them. Then, of course, I have to print out a picture, frame it and sell it since I don't need the frame. That's OCD for you! Without a lighting setup it can take me a while to get a good shot of one. It should be an easy task for you.

Well, guess we can keep talking about ole Hatman since he hasn't heard us yet. His pictures are going away--is that what old photographers do, they just fade into oblivion????

I'll pop in to the independent boards from time to time Dan but much less often than now - I need to spend my time creating images.

Hey Noonie I like your old children's books. Nice and colorful and with impact. Very good. You've probably seen my books series elsewhere which took an incredible amount of time and patience; I had to replace the covers with bright craft paper, so many hours measuring, cutting, glueing.

I've spent the last week having great fun with several tins of paint. Twenty pictures uploaded so far and a further thirty to follow this week. I thought some of my other stuff was colorful until I started playing with paint....(!)

I'll be here until July 16th, then exclusive elsewhere. I've started to delete some older pictures. What's been interesting about that is discovering the broad range of sales here at Dreamstime; very few of my pictures have zero sales and that's very unusual for an agency' most have sales concentrated in a few select images. It's a good sign that Dreamstime has a broad customer base with a very varied image requirement. That can only be good for the photographers who contribute here, and is a good sign for people like you Noonie who have chosen to be exclusive here.

Your sales should continue to improve, with one big caveat: you must grow your collection at a faster rate than Dreamstime's overall library otherwise you'll startto suffer from the needle in a haystack problem (or needle on a sandy beach as they say in Korea).

Je vais être en mouvement à la France, Octobre 1er et attend avec impatience une nouvelle vie en Europe.

Well, as Hatman has decided to exclusive another site I have decided to exclusive here. Noonie I'll be following in your footsteps it seems however I really am going to have to download like a mad woman to make it worthwile! Not so easy as I will be traveling much of the summer. Lots of photo ops less photoshop/download time.

You may need to rethink "following in my footsteps"--I usually don't know where I am going or even where I am!
Welcome to the club, anyway. Being on just this site has worked for me. I have played around enough to find some things that work for me here. I can't do studio shots only, I love the spontaneous pictures of people and things. So far, most people have been agreeable with signing releases. If they don't and I'm at an event (art show, athletic event) I just make a cd and let the organizer use it as advertising for next year.
You'll probably get so many shots as you travel that you'll have your nose in the computer for a while when you return. I never thought I'd get so many pictures in my portfolio so quickly. I was going to go slowly and see what happened, but it got into my blood and my OCD kicked in fully! Now, if I could just figure out how to make every shot count----------------------

Enjoy your travels and stop by-----I'll leave the light on for you.

275 sales? How did that happen?

I like your latest old pictures stuff and of course the children's books and the new deck pictures. The deck stuff is leading your sales (as expected) closely followed by the old pictures. More old pictures required - you should try to get twenty or thirty different ones in your collection.

Don't like your 'christmas background' which doesn't look at all like christmas (!) but hey the buyers will decide.

My books and paints projects are complete. I'll be glad never to see another book or a pot of paint, or a paintbrush for that matter.

New projects under development.......

500 pics in your portfolio is good going, and you're now starting to see sales accelerate. Another 500 pics and perhaps the monthly cheque will actually make a small difference to life.

Of course 10,000 good pictures would allow you to retire and buy a yacht.......

Dang Hatman! Where have you been-I've had to talk to myself and I get into a lot of arguments.

I'm working on 10,000, however, I'm already retired (just like to work) and I have 3 boats and 3 kayaks already, so I'll have to spend my money on that dinner date for you.

I thought that maybe after you learned how to paint you could come help me on some projects, but I guess not....

Thanks Amanda, I don't think it will take you long to get there.

Well I'll only be at Dreamstime for a few more days. Its been a good experience at this agency and I'm sure there will be many who flourish here.

I must say its been a pleasure seeing your progress from complete newbie to now a reasonably accomplished contributor Susan. I hope you continue to go from strength to strength.

Merci Cathy.

We have just signed for an apartment in a leafy suburb of Nice to start 1st October. Looking forward to it.

My research indicates that there is huge demand worldwide for 'European lifestyle' images, which include high quality views of famous places and lifestyle images (flower markets, local produce, people working and playing etc). I'm hoping to be able to expand my activities beyond the studio. Being based in Nice also gives easy access to the Alps and only three hours drive into Italy for Milan and the Italian Lakes. Of course the Italian mediteranean coast (San Remo) is only an hour's drive too.

My Korean girlfriend will have to leave Australia shortly and we will meet up again in October to start our new life together in France.

Although I speak passable French, Jung-Hee doesn't, but she is fluent in English and Korean (of course) and also speaks reasonably good Japanese and Cantonese. So while i continue to learn Korean (and a little Chinese) she'll be learning French. Then there is the need to brush up on Italian for those trips into Italy. A visit to our home will be like a major international expedition...

Noonie I see you've got yet another old photos picture gaining sales (the one of the photos in the picture frame). Seems I was right after all. Now if only I could work out how to win the lottery....
