I recently opened a Paypal account and was wondering that when DT pays through Paypal if Paypal takes 3%? Can anyone tell me this?

Not if you have them transfer it into your bank account (at least in the U.S.) |

warning - be very careful with paypal ... they make their money by finding ways not to let you get access to your own money. They have refused to allow me to access US$500 of my own money from stock photos because they say I cannot prove I am who I say I am - despite providing them with copies of my passport, official government I.D., birth records, bank account information, credit card information, etc. My only option now is to bring a small claims case against them which is the last thing I wanted to do but I waas darned if I was going to let them steal my own money from me ... thay i show paypal makes its money ... so be warned!! |

Even moneybookers requrired me to authenticate my identity and so does Paypal. No service is for free guys! They will wanna earn money for what they offer us. Personally I found moneybookers much easier and better than Paypal. But paypal aint bad either. It has proven to be good since many years. |

thanks KHWI - I cannot tell you how frustrating it has been to try and deal with paypal. I think if you live in North America and even Europe it might be OK, but in the many parts of the world where they have a minimal presence - in my case Hong Kong - they don't have offices etc.
The way I can deal with them now legally is because they do have a Chinese ebay (which owns paypal) but if you live in a country where they have no legal presence they can do what they want with your account, including holding on to your money for no reason other than their "policy", and you are pretty well powerless to stop them. |

Regarding the first question posted by Phakimata - all the fees related with your Dreamstime payment request are payed by the agency not by the photographer. |

I would like to see other options payment than Paypal. Paypal is a rip-off company. Do not provide Paypal with your banking information what is deposit can be withdrawl at any thing without reason. Then you are out your money!
Just said no to Paypal. |

Interesting stories.
What DT should do is arrange for direct deposit, or at least the possibility for them to transfer the funds into your bank account. I know this is difficult since there are members from all over the world. In the future all will be better.

I've never had any problems with pay pal, but then, I've never done a payment with them and DT (I have a long way to go before that happens!). I am in the U.S. though, so that might make the difference. I usually just have a deposit done into my bank account for free, but it takes 2-3 business days. Also, I think if you withdraw more than $500 in a month, they'll charge you (I'm not positive about this though).

I encountered similar problems that Christine has with Paypal. They ask for all kinds of IDs and varifications so I simply decided to forget about that account, which still has a small amount of cash there.
Moneybookers charged me a fee when I withdrawed money to my bank account. I think it's great that DT can offer cheque payment. |

We already have 3 methods of payment. Unfortunately the fees for regular bank to bank trasfers are too high especially for trasfers outside US. |

I know 2 Dreamstime’s way of money transfer: 1) on line and 2) by cheque. Please let me know the other way you mentioned because I don’t use on line transfer and fees on overseas cheques are very high.

Paypal have been fine with me, i'm in the UK but it is not the basic account i have which may be the difference. I am not charged for transferring money from paypal to my bank as long as it is over £50. |
